Maw Civil Pty Ltd in conjunction with MC Earthmoving Pty Ltd have recently completed construction of “The Link” Industrial Estate for Commercial & Industrial Property (CIP) in Keysborough adjacent to the Eastlink tollway. The project entailed the construction of a 20Ha Industrial Estate including all civil infrastructure and a 7Ha Wetlands / Retarding Basin for Melbourne Water.
In total, over 165,000 cubic meters of material was moved onsite, while also importing over 55,000 cubic meters of structural fill to form the subgrade of the signalised intersection of Freight Court & Perry Road.
During construction Maw Civil and MC Earthmoving overcame numerous complex construction issues & restrictions due to poor ground conditions and navigating around the existing live creeks and high-pressure gas & oils pipelines that traversed the site.
To direct runoff from Eastlink into the wetlands beneath one of the building lots, four 1500mm diameter concrete pipes were laid in parallel for 160 lineal meters. To construct Freight Court above the VIVA Energy & ESSO high pressure pipelines a 400mm thick heavily reinforced concrete bridging slab was required. 14 tonnes of reinforcement in addition to high strength concrete were used to construct the 330 square meter bridging slab.
